Wow! Has it been a week for me. Started last Thursday with a Stampin Up party! Have you ever seen the luscious stamps and papers and punches that you can buy from them? The catalog alone is enough to inspire you! I had a couple of close friends and my sister and the most LOVELY demonstrator EVER!! Kris Moser!!! She was sooo much fun and had 3 lovely projects for us to make!! Their products are quality top of the line and sooo enticing that ANYONE can stamp their own cards!!!
I also went to the Folk Art Festival on Saturday at the Kane County Fair Grounds in St. Charles, IL.! Talk about drool!!! OMG!!! I met so many wonderful artists and found sooooo much that I wanted to buy!!! Joanna Bolton had some wonderful sculpted dolls and bunnies and the most wonderful Butterfly guy!!! I only WISH that I had my camera!!! Then I met Stacey Nash and her sister Kelly! Both of them were ADORABLE!!! Stacy's art is INCREDIBLE!!!! I wanted one of everything from her booth!!!! One other artist that caught my attention was Ed Pribyl!! What this man creates with his hands and wood is simply MESMERIZING!!! I can't even tell you how AWESOME his work is!!! There were many other artists that deserve credit because simply there creations were the best of the best!
I to have been trying to create....I am STILL working on my bunny....Almost finished! Hooray!!!!
I also finished up a collage this evening and listed it on Ebay. Here is a peek at it. It is inspired from my LOVE for Angels...and my belief that we have a Guardian Angel watching over us.
I incorporated some stitching on the paper which is a new thing for me and also those chunky metal alphabet Brads! I am so envisioning this piece in a childs room and might even hang it in my daughters room until the end of auction.
As for the rest of my week. I need to finish up my bunny, finalize which stamps I will be ordering and I have a Field Trip with my daughter tomorrow to a museum here in town. I know it will be exciting. I will write more soon and hopefully snap a few pics of the projects we created with the stamps!
I am always amazed at the little things that bring joy into my life. If I was given a choice to shop at the most glamorous store or a Thrift Store, I would choose the Thrift Store hand down! I often wonder if that means there is something REALLY weird about me?! :0)
Last weekend I was on a mini vacation! My parents took the kids overnight for 2 nights!! I felt young and free and single again!!! I managed to go out to dinner and out dancing on Saturday night with my husband. Something I haven't done in a really long time!! It almost felt like we were only dating again!!
On Sunday I made my way over to my Favorite Thrift store. WHOA!! Was I happy when I left. I found the most wonderful LOT of trims that I have seen!!!
I couldn't believe my eyes and some of them even have vintage pins stuck in to hold the trims down!!! Yippeee!!! I can't wait to use them on some upcoming dolls!!! They are nice and small to, so that I can use them on my tiny dolls!!
Speaking of tiny dolls, I have a Rabbit in the works. I figured that I would let you have a peek at her amongst the fabrics that I plan to dress her in. I hope to have her done by this weekend. I can't wait to see her come alive! She is small, only about 13 inches, but she is darling! I will keep you posted on her progress.
I just wanted to share with you that a very Treasured Friend of mine, T from Dolls of Yore is Blogging!!!! She is trying to give me all the credit, but really she is the genius you see. Check out the blog by Clicking Here to see what I mean! Everything she touches turns to Gold! I could spend HOURS in her Enchanting Doll Photos. This is my MOST favorite doll that she ever made! I tried sooooo hard to win her on ebay, but I was beat at the last minute. So, I just treasure this picture and will forever!
Thanks for being a Great Friend and Giving Soul!
Just wanted to write this evening about a doll that I have been working on. I just listed her on ebay. Please take a look when you get a moment.
I haven't worked on a Black doll for so long and it really felt good to create one again. These are my favorite dolls to create. I created her using an Annie Beez pattern. Annie has some of the BEST patterns available!!! She is a DOLL too!
I altered the pattern a bit by applying Paper Clay to create the facial features of the sweet girl. I created a small teeny tiny doll to go with her and keep her company as well.
She is wearing Antique Baby Doll Clothes that I purchased from a local antique shop and dyed a Robin's Egg Blue. My Friends at CWT helped me with this! Thanks girls!
Her shoes were inspired by the Antique Alabama Babies that I adore soooo much!
Her teeny tiny doll was suppose to be a repro Belindy doll, but that doll knew that he wanted to be a boy!!! He is my version of an antique civil war cloth rag doll. The girl Loves him so! He is her treasure!
Thank you for taking the time to read about my newest creations.
Do you believe in Angels? I have a strong belief in angels. There are many books out there which I hope to talk about and share with you in the near future. My sister is reading a series of them written by a woman who has encounters and who talks to others about theirs.
I am very inspired by angels and often create based in that inspiration in accordance to the happenings in my life. I listed a Darling Little Chicken Little Mixed Media Canvas Collage on Ebay last night. Chicken Little and the tale of "The Sky is Falling" was one of my most memorable childhood stories. I remember sleeping over at my Auntie Theresa's house and getting ready for bed after playing store and restuarant all day. She always fixed us the most delicious warm drink before bed. Warm Milk with Butter and Sugar! Then she would read us a good night story and almost everytime that I was able to pick, I chose Chicken Little. I remember that the book was blue and there weren't a lot of pictures. Oh how I wish I still had that book. Auntie Theresa is in heaven right now and I Miss her sooo much. I wish she was here to enjoy my little ones because she dearly Loved Children. I also believe that she is an angel and my sister is convinced that she comes to her in the form of a Monarch Butterfly. This picture is one of the many that will be a tribute to her.
Please click here to go directly to my auction.
I also am featuring another piece this week on Humble Arts. She is a "Humble Angel".
You can find her Here. There are so many wonderful creations that are being offered at Humble Arts. Plus there is an article on Chase Dolls that I wrote under Historical Nuggets. If you like history and antique dolls, you are sure to find the article of interest.
I am working on several new pieces as well, so be sure to sign up for my mailing list. I send out updates whenever something is new is released.
As always, thanks so much for taking the time to read my Blog. Sign in so I know you were here. Until Next time. Over and Out! :0)
Hello Everyone! I have been super busy this past week with a huge schedule!! I registered my Daughter for Kindergarten which is exciting, but I also had tears in my eyes. She is just growing up toooo fast!!! I also took my little Miniature Dachshund to the Vet to get some medication/instruction for Cushing's Disease. Apparently she is suffering from it. It is an ailment that is totally treatable. Thank Goodness. She is 10 and I don't know what my life would be without her. She was my first "Baby"
I also had a SUPER DUPER fun day shopping in a nearby City at a couple of my Favorite New Stores!!! Megan Morrison is a really FUN shop. There is so much Eye Candy that a Girl could hardley contain Herself!!! I met the Lovely Courtney, who is Megan's sister that she recently featured here. She is really a nice "sister" who didn't even realize that her sister featured her! Anyhow, I just wanted to share a couple pics from the shop with you.
This shot of the store came out a little dark, but I think it adds to the character of the shop.
Oh My WORD!! A table full of Lori Mitchell Designs!!! YUM! Here is one of my Favorites! I can't stop thinking about her!
Maybe if I am extra good the Easter Bunny will bring her to me! Oh, and here is another one of my personal Favorites that the store has to offer! I just about wet my pants! I only wish it was that easy!! Oh, and do they offer it in Dark Chocolate??? Not a fan of the Milk!
Don't these just make you want to cook?? I want them!!
Next, we went to Megan's second shop which is sort of similar, well maybe not. Moxie is a shop that for me, is a dose of inspiration. Megan surely has a way of displaying and organizing. (Maybe I need to have her over to organize my things) Everywhere I turned at Moxie, I was inspired! It was as if the merchandise was waiting to speak to me! I took some pictures at this shop to share with you also. Oh, and I played Dress up in the WONDERFUL Vintage Clothing Line that she carries on the second floor. We are talking Dresses, Hats, Shoes, Bags, Coats, Scarves, Suits, even lingerie! ALL VINTAGE ladies!!! ( oh and don't forget the Gent's...they have stuff for you too)! It was a dream come true!
O.k. Starting with this shirt!! I NEED one! It describes me to a T! LOVE IT!
Check out this cozy little corner! If only I were skinny!! I want those panties!!!
O.k....This is the back wall behind the cash register! I LOVE it!!! If I were rich, I would buy everyone of the plates hanging and display them on one of my living room walls!
Oh, and I forgot to tell you about the wonderful Kids section! There is even a play area with coloring books and crayons that are stored in a vintage suit case!
Are you jealous yet???? :0) Wait there is more!!!
Being the Dachshund Lover that I am....I couldn't stop laughing at these Cocktail Napkins!
LOVE this cookbook...(As long as my Hubby didn't give it to me as a hint)!
This book looks really fun! I want to page through it next time I am shopping!
I wish this was a Jane Austen Picture Story Book!! Don't you LOVE the Illustration?
I'm not even sure what this was, but the girl was speaking to me to take her picture.
This shirt would have been perfect to put in my "Girlfriends" Post! What a great gift though for one of your friends!
This is the view you have when you get upstairs directly at the top.
These are a few shots in the vintage clothing Department.
This was the last stop at Moxie, me playing dress up!!! It was sooo fun!! So, if you are drooling right now and wish you could have been there to shop, always remember, you can shop online, because Moxie has a website! How genious is that? I want to thank Megan for allowing me to come in and play in her store! I will be back for sure! A big thanks to Courtney too! It was great to meet you. Oh, and that sweet little lady in the Vintage Clothing Department who helped me pick out my dress up clothes! Smooches! Oh and if you get a chance, check out Megan's Blog.
Only one more store to talk about. I stopped at a thrift store which is beyond RIGHT UP MY ALLEY!!! I think I must have made the employees a bit nervous, because I was looking through every nook and cranny! I LOVE old things. I took a couple of pics of this store and of a might Lovely Little Doll that I bought there.
Well, I guess I wrote a lot here! I am off to work on some new creations and to try and get this baby doll dressed and ready to go to her new Mama. Look for her and some of my other future creations at The Humble Arts. It is a new website that is offering some of the BEST Handmade Vintage/Primitive Goods out there.
Thanks so much for taking the time to read about my adventure! Please leave a comment! I would LOVE to hear from you.
Good Morning to all of You! I have been sooo busy this week trying to prepare for a really exciting NEW Venture!!! I joined an online selling Magazine called The Humble Arts. I can't tell you just how excited and honored I am to be a part of this group. I am joined by some of the Top Artists. Everyone has some really GREAT offerings.
Please check out the site when you get a chance. I am offering my Little Red Riding Hood with her Teeny Tiny Wolf. MANY hours of LOVE and hard work were poured into this doll. She is really something special that I am very emotionally attached too!
I invite you to my Picturetrail to view the many photos that I have taken of this beauty!
